Garcia-Barrera: Congratulations Justin Karr

Dear colleagues and students,

It is with great pleasure that I share extraordinary news with all of you. Justin Karr, a Ph.D. candidate, member of the CORTEX team, and Vanier Scholar studying Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Victoria, has been elected by an international constituency of psychology graduate students to the office of Chair-elect for the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS), the highest elected office within the organization. With 41,000 members, APAGS represents roughly a third of the membership of the entire American Psychological Association (APA), and stands as the largest group of organized psychology graduate students worldwide. During his three-year term in office (i.e., Chair-elect, Chair, and Past-Chair), Justin will advocate on behalf of his fellow graduate students through his service on the APAGS Executive Committee, and as the sole student member of the APA Council of Representatives, the APA Council Leadership Team, and the APA Board of Directors. Justin will be the first APAGS Chair from a Canadian institution since 1988, and just the second in the history of the organization. A true honour for our Department and our University.

My most sincere congratulations to Justin for this outstanding achievement.

Sincerely,

Mauricio
