Kibby Evans, UVic biology and psychology grad and former Vikes rugby star, is biking and camping across Canada—from Cape Spear, NFL, to Victoria—to raise awareness of the need for registered organ donors and to raise funds for organ transplantation research.

Students with a passion for helping people

Deanna Singh chose to major in psychology because she's always wanted to help those suffering from the stigma of mental illness. She appreciated the honours psychology program especially for its small group size of 20 students and excellent instruction from the department's faculty. "We worked so closely together," says Singh. "It was the highlight of my degree."

Psychology, the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes, addresses fascinating questions that lie at the heart of human life experiences. UVic's Psychology Department is home to award-winning teachers and world-class researchers working in state-of-the-art facilities.

Psychology programs and research

We offer undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor Science degrees and Master's and PhD degrees at the graduate level. Students are key contributors to our vibrant research community, providing assistance in research laboratories and working together with faculty members to plan and execute experiments. Psychology is an exciting branch of science where new discoveries help shape our world in positive ways.
