Fraser Main Entrance Closure May 5 - July 31
As part of the final construction phase of the new wing to the Fraser Building, the McGill Road main entrance to the Fraser building will temporarily close from May 5 to July 31.
As of May 5, the south scaffold walkway will remain open and will serve as the primary entrance for all Fraser building users. If driving to campus you may want to park in Lot 9, located near the University Club. This lot is the closest and most accessible parking lot to the south entrance.
Law classes will begin in the Fraser building on May 7, marking the start of the summer term. Clear signage will be posted to redirect all Fraser building users to the correct entry point.
Staff and faculty with building keys may access the building through the Fraser loading dock door.
We thank you for your patience during the construction.
Why is the main entrance temporarily closing?
Construction is being finalized around the main entrance to the Fraser Building. This work includes new sidewalks, landscaping and bike rack installation, and finishing exterior walls between the new wing and the current Fraser Building.
The demolition of the existing asphalt and doors will take place in May. This work will be noisy for those level 1 and 2 offices that face the main entrance. Construction work will continue throughout this area during June and July. The noise and impact of this work is expected to be less disruptive to those offices facing this space.
What else will be affected?
There will be some interior modifications within the Fraser building over the summer. These include some millwork modifications, deficiency corrections and some carpet replacement. These modifications are expected to have limited noise impact and minimal disruption impact on the classes taking place in the building.
When will construction be completed?
Construction of the new wing is set to be completed on July 31 with occupancy expected in early August 2025.
