Assistant Teaching Professor - Limited Term

The Position
The Department of Gender Studies is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a limited term Assistant Teaching Professor position for a period of 2 years commencing January 1, 2024.

The teaching professor position requires teaching 7 courses per academic year. The workload for this position is weighted as follows: Teaching (70%), Scholarly Activity (10%), and Service (20%).

Teaching
Qualified candidates will have substantial experience in teaching Gender Studies courses and/or courses in other disciplines with gender as a substantial focus. We are specifically interested in candidates who will be able to teach multiple sections of our introductory course (GNDR 100: Gender, Power, and Difference) as well as 200- and 300-level courses, area of specialization is open. Gender Studies is committed to decolonial and anti-racist critical analyses that expose inequities and interrogate their structural and systemic foundations. Qualified candidates will also have a demonstrated ability to teach with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Service
The position also requires engagement with the activities of the department. This includes but is not limited to serving on departmental, Faculty, and University-wide committees and representing our department at University events. Additional assets would include the ability to serve as a role model and/or mentor for students and demonstrating the willingness and ability to contribute to the needs and growth of an academic unit.

Scholarly Activity
Scholarly activity includes but is not limited to disciplinary research, education research, clinical research, and community-engaged research. It also includes the use of scholarly methods in the development of courses, programs, or curricula. and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
