Admissions criteria

Applicants to the non-BSW entry MSW program must have an undergraduate degree from a Canadian recognized degree-granting institution and a graduating cumulative GPA of 6.0 or higher (in University of Victoria terms). References demonstrating the equivalent of two or more years of full-time successful practice in one or more human service organizations is also required. Relevant experience for paid or unpaid work experience in human services can include, but is not limited to, the following areas: personal social services, health, education, housing, income and economic development, justice and public safety, and community organization and/or community development and/or advocacy work. Relevant human service work experience can include direct service to people that enhances people’s development and well being or work centered around planning, organization, development and administration of human service programs. Required documentation for consideration to all three MSW programs include the online application through Graduate Admissions & required fees, transcripts, academic recommendation, a personal statement, CV or resume, employer reference form and (if applicable) courses in progress form.
