Academic regulations
Academic Performance
Undergraduate students in the School of Public Health and Social Policy must maintain a sessional GPA of 3.0 (C+) and receive a minimum of 2.0 (C) in any core PHSP or other required course; otherwise they may be required to withdraw from the School.
Practicum Requirements
Many agencies have specific requirements for students prior to practicum placement (ie. oath of confidentiality, current immunization and basic life support certification, extended health care insurance coverage). All costs and responsibilities associated with these requirements are the responsibility of the individual student.
Criminal Record Checks
Students may be required to complete their practicum in an agency requiring a criminal record check as part of its screening process. Students are responsible for completing this process.
Professional Conduct
All students in the School of Public Health and Social Policy must follow the Faculty of Human and Social Development's (HSD) Guidelines for Professional Conduct and Regulations Concerning Practica. Students may be required to withdraw from their program for violating these provisions.
Program Completion Limit
The Health and Community Services full-time program must normally be completed within five years from the date of admission. Upon completion of one or more years in the School of Public Health and Social Policy, students may apply in writing to the School for a one-year leave of absence. The deadline for such a request is normally March 31.
