The School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria invites candidates to apply for an Impact Chair position in Transformative Governance for Planetary Health.

UVic Impact Chairs are intended for exceptional researchers acknowledged as leaders in their field, with recognized success in research-inspired teaching and fostering collaborative and interdisciplinary research. The role of the Impact Chair is to convene, connect and facilitate collaborative research and education across disciplines and academic units, knowledge sharing and mobilization, partnerships on campus and with external partners and communities, and to provide leadership in relation to the relevant University of Victoria Strategic Framework priorities.

The goal of the Chair in Transformative Governance for Planetary Health is to contribute to shifting our societies to better reconcile human health with the natural systems on which we depend, by bridging the academia, communities and governments.

The Impact Chair on Transformative Governance for Planetary Health and its Transformation Lab are designed for being a creative space for knowledge creation, education and engagement that would be a leverage for existing expertise and resources. This unique setting will provide the University of Victoria, which is situated on Lekwungen, Wyomilth  and WSÁNEĆ territory, with an international recognition and visibility with regards to its expertise in Sustainable Futures and have positive impacts at multiple levels. It will support knowledge development in an area that is critically needed, transformative governance, capitalizing on interdisciplinary collaborations across campus and beyond campus by reaching out to governments and communities, including Indigenous communities. It will also increase knowledge opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
