Terminology and Standards used in the Clinical Decision Support Systems

Dr. Michael Bainbridge is an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria. He has worked in both BMA and UK Government in the 2003 negotiation of the quality-based National General Practitioner Contract. He was the clinical architect of the UK NHS for 8 years responsible for major usability, interoperability and safety initiatives

Dr. Bainbridge was also the founder and Technical Director of the UK National PRIMIS initiative delivering key educational and data quality interventions in UK General Practice.  since moving to Australia in 2011 he has worked for the Australian Digital Health Agency, the Australian Commission for Safety and quality as well as multiple primary care networks. He has recently delivered standards guidance about on screen medicines presentation, He continues to ‘evangelise’ safety and usability from Common Interface Components in both his consulting and academic roles. Dr. Bainbridge continues to work in Sydney on the Implementation of e-health and the shared record to support Healthcare Reform. Additionally, he is the Asia Pacific Clinical Engagement Lead for SNOMED International.
