Pritma is a seasoned nurse executive with over 18 years of experience caring for patients at the bedside and in the boardroom. Her career began as a medical/surgical nurse in the United States. Upon moving to Canada in 2006 she switched her focus to occupational health, where she was the first nurse to be hired by WestJet Airlines to establish their employee health and wellness programs and policies. She established and led an interdisciplinary health team at WestJet to provide disability management services, mental health and addictions support and wellness programming. Pritma spent many years in the private sector thereafter, helping oil and gas companies implement similar employee health programs and occupational health technology solutions. In 2014 she returned to Alberta Health Services into the inaugural role of Provincial Director for Electronic Quality and Safety. Pritma facilitated the adoption of an eSafety framework at AHS and began an organizational transformation project to ensure systems safety in the wake of the largest EHR implementation in Canada: Connect Care. Concurrently, Pritma completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Yale University where she developed a tool for safe configuration of electronic health records: the eSafety Checklist which is currently being used to support the Connect Care configuration at AHS.

Pritma thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building new teams and tackling new health IT problems with disruptive solutions. She is passionate about translating research into practice, specifically digital health technologies that can deliver high-value results for patients and 10X efficiency for clinicians.
