Get involved

There are countless great stories at UVic to be told—many more than can be covered by the regular Ring staff.

And that's where you come in. We urge you to get involved.

Let us know how we can improve The Ring or suggest an idea for a great article, photo or video.

Use this form to provide a brief sketch of your idea, addressing, if possible, the following questions:

  • How does the story idea relate to the mandate of The Ring?
  • What's the main message?
  • Who would be interested and why?
  • What are the possibilities for great photos or other visual images?
  • Who are the main people to interview; are they readily available?
  • What factors, if any, affect the timing of publication?

The Ring editor will respond to all submissions. If your idea is accepted, we will assign it to one of our writers.

Are you a budding journalist, photographer or videographer? Consider becoming a volunteer contributor to The Ring. Your voice and talents will help make the UVic News website and The Ring newspaper more vibrant and engaging.

Voluntary contributors are essential in enabling The Ring to cover the wide range of activities at UVic, providing articles, photos and videos that we are otherwise unable to produce with our limited staff.

If you are a member of the UVic community, we invite you to become a volunteer contributor. Working under the direction of the Ring editor, you can suggest content ideas you’d like to pursue, or you could receive assignments from the editor. Your contributions may appear on The Ring website, the printed newspaper, or both.

It’s a great way to share your knowledge and interests with the university community.
