Diana M. Priestly Law Library
The Law Library is named for its founding librarian, Diana M. Priestly, who was Law Librarian and Professor of Law from 1974-1987.
Students enjoy the informal seating with its comfy chairs and couches.
The computer lab has 32 computer workstations.
An overhead view of the stacks - there are over 180,000 volumes in the library.
The current periodicals reading area is situated near the entrance of the library.

Collections
Locate both electronic and print materials available to UVic students.
- Catalogue: Find books, journals, government publications, newspapers as well as non-book materials such as videos and microforms
- HeinOnline: Find law journal articles and primary law including historical Canadian legislation.
- Law course reserve: For materials recommended by professors for specific courses
- Law general reserve; For key secondary legal titles
- Summon: Find books, articles and electronic sources.
Use the library
The Diana M. Priestly Law Library is open to the public and all university students regardless of faculty affiliation. However, some services are for UVic law students only.
Research help
The library provides the following research services:
- In-person help: Find print material, electronic books, DVDs, journals and more.
- Research alerts: Receive updates automatically.
- Research tools: Software for research tasks.
- Research guides: On specific legal topics.
- Legislative research videos: A series of short video tutorials to help you conduct research on federal and provincial (BC) legislation.
