Meet our 2018 Library Scholarship Award Winners

 

David Harris Flaherty Undergraduate Student Library Scholarship 2018 Recipient:

Paige Gelfer, Faculty of Humanities

Paige Gelfer is in her 5th and final year of her degree, and will soon be graduating with a major in History and a minor in Japanese Studies. In the future, she hopes to get a Masters in Library and Information Science in order to be a public services librarian.

David Harris Flaherty Undergraduate Student Library Scholarship 2018 Recipient:

Emma Gillespie, Faculty of Fine Arts

Emma is a 2nd year student at Uvic with an extensive background in the Fine Arts, from completion of her Royal Conservatory piano exams, to experience as a professional ballet dancer. She is currently studying Applied Theatre and English, with plans to pursue the post-degree program for Secondary Education.

William Petrie Graduate Student Library Scholarship 2018 Recipient:

Kailey Fukushima, Faculty of Humanities

Kailey Fukushima is a master’s student in English at the University of Victoria. Her research interests include Victorian literature and culture, food studies, women’s writing, and the digital humanities. Before beginning her graduate studies, Kailey worked in Special Collections and in Digitization and Repository Services at the University of Calgary.

William Petrie Graduate Student Library Scholarship 2018 Recipient:

Jodi Litvin, Faculty of Humanities

Jodi Litvin has just completed her Master’s degree in the English department at the University of Victoria. Her Master’s essay focused on digitizing small queer print periodicals. Aside from her main project, Jodi is interested in queer productions of Shakespeare, queer fiction, and fiction by Jewish American authors.
