2014 Prize Draws Starting November

Beginning in the month of November, the 2014 UVic United Way campaign will begin running weekly prize draws to thank our donors and celebrate our progress so far. In order to qualify for these prize draws, you must be a registered United Way donor. For information about how to donate, please view our Donations page. Become a United Way donor today and help UVic reach our goal of $250,000! There is still time to make a pledge and help make a difference in the Greater Victoria community.

2014 United Way campaign rolls toward goal

Since kicking off on October 6, the 2014 UVic United Way campaign has been quickly gaining momentum. After only two weeks, UVic has already raised 66% of its goal. As we reach this important milestone, it is important to reflect on what the money raised so far could do. At time of writing, the 2014 campaign had raised approximately 66% of the $250,000 goal, adding up to about $165,000. Money donated to United Way Greater Victoria is spent in a variety of ways, focused along the lines of the three United Way priority areas: All That Kids Can Be, Poverty to Possibility, and Strong Communities. $165,000 can go a long way in terms of making positive change in the community

Be an agent of change for United Way

Are you ready to be an agent of change? United Way Greater Victoria is once again counting on the support of UVic staff, faculty and students to help meet its 2013 fundraising goal of $6 million. Follow your nose to the UVic campaign kick-off on Monday, Oct. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the University Centre. Everyone is invited to drop in to the Welcome Centre to enjoy popcorn snacks and talk to representatives from United Way and UVic’s campaign steering committee.

Making a difference: UVic and the United Way

Thank you, UVic community! As of the end of December, the fundraising tally for the 2012 UVic United Way campaign stood at $250,647, and the campaign had welcomed 74 new donors. “Thank you to everyone who donated for your contributions and generosity,” says UVic campaign chair Mary Ellen Purkis. “UVic is a proud supporter of the United Way of Greater Victoria and we continue to rely on tremendous support from the campus community—both donors and volunteers—to achieve our ambitious goals,” she says.

Change starts here: UVic and the United Way

Thank you, UVic community! The final fundraising tally for the 2011 UVic United Way campaign came in at $271,165, with a cool $36,641 raised at on-campus events from July through December. The campaign also welcomed 62 new donors. “The generous sponsors and large team of volunteers from the UVic community—the committee members, event coordinators and participants—should be very proud,” says UVic campaign chair Charles McQuade. “Our fundraising efforts help the United Way make a huge difference in our community each and every year.”
