The 2015 edition of the Canadian Mathematical Society UVic Math Camp will take place on the University of Victoria campus June 29 - July 3rd, 2015, except on Canada Day.

Information for registered participants:

  • This year's camp will take place from 10:00am - 4:00pm each day.
  • Most camp activites will take place in the David Strong Building (DSB) Room C108 and this is where drop off and pick up will be each day.
  • A more detailed schedule will be available here shortly.

The generous support from University of Victoria and the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) will enable us to cover the majority of the food, supplies and other costs. However, a registration fee of $50.00 will be necessary to offset some of the expense. Students traveling from remote locations or needing financial aid will be eligible for a registration fee reimbursement upon the completion of the Camp. Teachers are encouraged to ask their corresponding school district to cover the registration fees. Few such requests get turned down.

The Camp is a day camp and hence all the participants will be responsible for finding their own accommodations. One option is UVic residences as they are reasonably priced and located on campus. You can check out that option at http://housing.uvic.ca/visitor/summervisitorlistings.php

General Math Camp Information:

The CMS Math Camps are designed for students in grades 9 through 11, who have demonstrated a talent and interest for mathematics. The program's goal is to show the participants that math is an exciting discipline that is about seeing surprising deep patterns and creatively discovering new ideas, that mathematical concepts are both interesting for their own sake and applicable to real life situations. This year's campwill feature presentations on numbers in different bases, linear transformations and matrices, combinatorial counting, cryptography and much more, including students' favourite Puzzle Hunt.

The schedule of the previous years' activities and their description is posted on our website, and will soon be updated to the 2015 versions.

If you have any questions or need further details, please contact Amanda directly at anjam@uvic.ca or Kseniya at kgarasch@gmail.com.

We are very excited about the program for this year's camp and hope your students will join us here at UVic!
