Dr. Verena Tunnicliffe broke the champagne to christen the CCGS Sir John Franklin on the first try! The ceremony of ship launching has a long history, and it is an honour to be chosen to participate in this tradition. Dr. Tunnicliffe’s outstanding record of marine biology research was recognized by her being chosen as the civilian sponsor of the ship.
