The Centre for Global Studies (CFGS) welcomes applications from qualified UVic faculty and students interested in participating in our dynamic interdisciplinary research community. The CFGS promotes critical citizenship in a complex and rapidly changing global environment including the advancement and understanding of major global issues by civil society, the private sector, governments, and international institutions.
UVic faculty and graduate students are invited to apply who are engaged in similar topics of a global dimension. These topics may include, but are not limited to: global governance, international environmental challenges, social and ecological justice issues, and culture and identity.
Applications from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcome.

UVIC GRADUATE STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
Value: $5,000 per fellowship, plus office space at the CFGS.

UVIC FACULTY FELLOWSHIP
Research Completion Faculty Fellowships | Research Development Faculty Fellowships
Value: Teaching-release time equal to the value of one 1.5 credit course; office space (including wireless Internet, fax and copy services) in the Centre’s Sedgewick premises.

VISITING GRADUATE STUDENT/POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER FELLOWSHIP
Value: $5,000 per fellowship, plus office space at the CFGS

VISITING RESEARCHER FELLOWSHIP
Value: Applicants may be eligible for a travel bursary of up to $1500CAD. Otherwise this is a nonstipendiary appointment, with no cash value. Successful applicants must secure their own research funding to cover other costs associated with visa applications, health insurance, and accommodations.

CFGS ASSOCIATE FELLOWSHIP
Value: Enhanced opportunities for research networking, mentorship, and exchange through CFGS; access to the UVic libraries, CFGS boardroom, stationary, scanner, and photocopier.

CONDITIONS: One of the central objectives of the Centre is the creation of a community of scholars and of scholarship. The Centre is able to create and sustain this community only to the extent that our residents are present in the Centre on a regular basis and participating in its activities.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS ARE EXPECTED TO: Consider the Centre their primary office and conduct their work in the centre's quarters, participate actively in the programs and activities of the Centre, give at least one public seminar or lecture on the theme of their research, acknowledge the CFGS in all publications arising from the fellowship and notify the centre of any such presentations, books or articles for inclusion in our database.
SELECTION: Selection will be made by the CFGS Program Committee, based on the academic merit of the proposal, the views of the referees and the record of academic achievement.
