Are you planning to relocate to Victoria with an elderly family member who requires assisted living or other specially designed services? A variety of support services and resources are available in Victoria including public and private accommodation, adult day programs for mental and physical stimulation and home care support.

Seniors Serving Seniors publishes a Seniors’ Services Directory every two years. It is a comprehensive handbook of seniors’ resources in the greater Victoria area and is available in hard copy as well as online.

The Government of British Columbia has a detailed website on seniors’ issues and resources as well as a very useful seniors’ guide.

If you want to network with others who provide care to aging family or friends, go to the Family Caregiver Network site. This organization offers personal support groups, education and other resources.

The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) lists facilities that provide extended and intermediate elder care on southern Vancouver Island.

The Government of Canada outlines nation-wide government benefits and programs for seniors.
