New Old Worlds

UVic's Medieval Studies Program introduces you to the storied lives and legacies of the past.

Come explore early cultural practices and artefacts, some of which continue to shape how we think and act in the modern world.
—Allan Mitchell, Program Director

The Middle Ages are sometimes idealized as a time of sophisticated romance and chivalry. More often, the medieval period is regarded as a dark time. Reality is far more complex. Study a range of extraordinary and influential artistic, intellectual, and social achievements.
