Faces of UVic Research: Helga Thorson
Dr. Helga Thorson is a professor in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria. In this video she explains a current project on which she is working; on an archive documenting, collecting, and analyzing life stories of individuals from the Victoria area who experienced the Holocaust, or had family members that experienced the Holocaust. Faces of UVic Research: Peter Golz
Peter Golz is a professor and Chair of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria Faculty of Humanities. His research interests include German film, German as a second language and most specifically the vampire myth and its various guises. In this video, he discusses how he uses the same critical tools and theory to look at vampire film and literature as is used with more academically established works, and how looking at popular culture phenomena in this way can teach us something that looking at more canonical works may not.
