Wesley T. Ted served three terms as department chair (1979-82 and 1995-2000), leading the department through critical years of renewal and growth. Beyond the History department, Ted served the university in many capacities. He was Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic (1983-86 and 1988-89); a member of University  Senate  in the 1980s and 1990s; a president of the Faculty Club; and an active supporter of the Faculty Association.

Jane Wooley (BA, English, Northwestern University) moved to Victoria in 1968.  After working part-time at the University of Victoria during her child-rearing years, she took a full-time position in Continuing Studies in Education where she soon became the assistant to the director. After 20 enjoyable years, she retired, with Ted,  in 2004.
