Home Depot is a leader in employee development and volunteerism. The Retail Council of Canada recently recognized Home Depot's leadership in this area with an award for Excellence in Employee Development at the Retail Council of Canada's 2002 Excellence in Retailing Awards.
Home Depot's corporate culture believes in giving back to the communities it serves. Team Depot, an organized volunteer force, was developed in 1992 to allow associates to contribute to the communities where they work and live.
The Gordon Head Residents’ Association recommended to Home Depot in 2005 that they show support for the Gordon Head Community as they were opening a branch in that area.
