Elizabeth Buckley School Award

Elizabeth Buckley School was originally founded in 1987 by Nancy Bourey, a teacher and speech and language pathologist, as a school for the deaf and hard of hearing in Victoria. The name Elizabeth Buckley was chosen to honour Bourey's grandmother, an inspirational teacher in New York. Over the years, Elizabeth Buckley School grew and changed into a STEaM school (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics). By 2018, Elizabeth Buckley School served a much more diverse student population. The classrooms were nurturing environments where all students, from gifted to those with diverse abilities, learned side by side in an inclusive setting. It was a hidden gem. Unfortunately, the school had to close so this fund is being established to canyon the school's legacy.
