In recognition of outstanding students, UVic awards more than 5 million dollars in Entrance and In-Course Scholarships each year.

UVic scholarships

In recognition of outstanding students, UVic awards more than 5 million dollars in Entrance and In-Course Scholarships each year. Scholarships are non-repayable and are awarded to students on the basis of academic merit or excellence.

Funding Guidelines

Undergraduate students may be awarded up to $150.00 to support conference presentations or, in the case of some award recipients, conference attendance.  Examples of eligible events are (but not limited to):

  • British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association conference (attendance BCRPA award recipient)
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology conference (attendance by CSEP award recipient)
  • Physical and Health Education Canada Student Leadership conference (attendance by PHE Award recipient)
  • Quality Daily PE Provincial conference

Graduate students may be awarded up to $250.00 to support conference presentations.

Guiding Principles

  •  Each student is eligible for the award once per degree for undergraduate and masters’ students or twice per degree for doctoral students.
  •  Must be first author on a paper or poster presentation related to your EPHE research at a relevant conference for your area of study or the undergraduate award recipient as specified.
  •  Must be a registered University of Victoria student at the time of the acceptance of your conference presentation.
  •  Your graduate or honours supervisor, or program coordinator must approve and support your application.
  •  A preliminary abstract must be submitted at the time of application.
  •  Proof of acceptance of your abstract is required to secure funding.

How to Apply

To apply, complete the application form and submit it to the Director of the School of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education care of the Administrative Officer.  Attach a copy of the preliminary abstract and acceptance documentation from the conference organizers.

EPHE Student Conference Award recipients may be asked to present their papers or posters to fellow students.
