Brian Leacock is an Associate Teaching Professor of organizational behaviour/design, human resource management, and cross cultural leadership at the Gustavson School of Business (University of Victoria). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses to diverse student groups and brings a global/interdisciplinary orientation. He places special attention on understanding and navigating our diverse and globalized world. Brian also holds the title of Associate Director of GSB International. This leadership role is focused on the internationalization of the school of business across four degree programs (BCom, MBA, MGB and PhD) – including the management of 110+ academic partnerships worldwide.  Overall, Brian has twenty years (+) experience in educational leadership – spanning all aspects of governance, strategic planning/budgeting, strategic enrolment management, business development, pedagogical innovation, development projects (CIDA), and all dimensions of international education. 

Brian’s current area of scholarly inquiry focuses on intercultural competency development (conceptualization, assessment, and pedagogical innovation/training) for leadership in a globalized and integrated world. In fact, Brian has dedicated his academic career to supporting the development of intercultural competency skills in his students and corporate clients for the past two decades.  He also devotes time to understanding and teaching unconscious bias (UB), emotional intelligence (EQ), cultural intelligence (CQ), and diversity/inclusion (DI).  This passion for academic understanding includes active conference presentations at national and international organizations such as EAIE, NAFSA, CBIE, and STLHE. 

Brian’s work, curiosity, and academic pursuits have taken him to 330+ cities in 53 countries and he has lived overseas for 9 years.  He continues to seek out cultural diversity as he writes, explores, and consults on the role of culture in our diverse and globalized world.
