Dr. Rick Cotton

Dr. Rick Cotton began teaching at the Gustavson School of Business in 2015, bringing a passion for understanding how individuals thrive in their careers and how HR and talent management practices can foster organizational and individual success in a variety of country, industry and occupational contexts. Rick’s commitment to reducing the school’s carbon emissions has him co-chairing the Carbon Neutrality Plus committee, which conducts an annual audit of Gustavson carbon emissions and runs a student competition to purchase offsets for our scope three emissions

Dr. Ricardo Flores

Dr. Flores teaches and researches in the area of organization theory and sustainability. Dr. Flores’ research explores how institutions, society and organization leaders interact ( e.g., responsible leadership, ESG, SDGs embeddedness in firm’ strategies, local government sustainability initiatives, accelerators' role in embedding sustainability into new ventures, etc.)

Dr. Basma Majerbi

Dr. Majerbi's early research was in international asset pricing and other international finance topics related to risk management and financial crises. More recently, she's more interested in sustainable finance with a focus on impact investing and climate finance. She currently works on 2 projects: One funded by SSHRC on "financial system diversity, macro-financial stability and climate change risk" and the second on "Integrating Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation into Finance and Investments"

Dr. Matt Murphy

Dr. Murphy is an associate professor of sustainability and strategy whose research is focused on: stakeholder relationships related to conflict and collaboration; community-based sustainable development efforts in the context of First Nations; evaluating and monitoring the socio-cultural fit and impact of economic development projects; and documentary films about the efforts of communities on different continents that are working towards food sovereignty.

Dr. Simon Pek

Dr. Simon Pek, Assistant Professor of Sustainability and Organization Theory, joined the Gustavson School of Business in 2017. Simon teaches and researches in the area of sustainability and organization theory. His primary research explores how organizations and the individuals within them embed social and environmental sustainability into their cultures, strategies, and daily operations. Simon co-chairs the Carbon Neutrality Plus committee, which conducts an annual audit of Gustavson carbon emissions and runs a student competition to purchase offsets for our scope three emissions.

Dr. Jie Zhang

Dr. Jie Zhang is passionate about cultivating service excellence toward a sustainably prosperous, healthy and fulfilling future. Her research draws on theories and practices in service research, technology and knowledge management, and sustainable development.

Jie uses empirical research tools to investigate the value co-creation interactions (i.e., service coproduction) among a network of customers and their service providers in contexts such as hospitality, higher education, and services for older adults.
