Condolence Notice – Pat Elemans
April 2, 2020, Victoria, BC – It is with great sadness that the Gustavson School of Business acknowledges the passing of Pat Elemans on March 30, 2020.
Dedicating her energy, warmth and vision to the School for fifteen years, Pat was a friend, mentor, inspiration and leader to many, many people in our community, both on campus and off. From revitalizing our MBA during her tenure as program director, to leading the school’s alumni, development, communications and marketing efforts as Assistant Dean, External Relations, Pat was central to the school’s impact on community, students and staff alike. She brought her signature style, presence and grace everywhere she went, from the front of the classroom to the emcee’s mic at the school’s flagship Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year Award gala.
Pat’s inspirational efforts truly helped Gustavson transition from a young school to one of the world’s leading management institutions. Her impact can be discerned in the relationships she forged, the initiatives she championed, and the hearts she touched. The results of her contributions will continue to be felt long into the future. Our students, staff and faculty join the broader community in mourning this wonderful, warm, visionary individual. We will continue to pay tribute to Pat in the months to come.
In consultation with Pat’s family, the school has established a memorial fund to support Pat’s legacy of encouraging and building the foundations for student success and the pursuit of excellence in community engaged learning for those wishing to make a gift in her honour.
The Gustavson School of Business is planning a permanent recognition of Pat’s contributions to the school. The celebration of her contributions will take place at a future date.
A full story of Pat’s contributions to the business school can be found on the Times Colonist website.
