Gustavson honours Lawrence and Marjorie Yeats for their Outstanding Student Support

June 24, 2016

Gustavson is excited to honour and thank Marjorie Yeats for her dedicated support of our students over the past twenty-one years by officially naming the foyer of the business school The Lawrence and Marjorie Yeats Lobby and unveiling a commemorative plaque that recognizes their decades of student support.

Marjorie Yeats has been a long-time friend of the business school, establishing a bursary named in honour of her late husband Lawrence in 1995. The Lawrence and Marjorie Yeats bursary provides financial support for students studying in Gustavson’s Bachelor of Commerce Program who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend a post-secondary institution. Since its inception 83 bursaries have been awarded to students.

“The Yeats bursary makes a tremendous impact for students who wish to further their education, but struggle with the funds to do so,” says Saul Klein, dean of Gustavson. “Marjorie’s support has provided our students with the opportunity to realize their dream. It will be our honour to have the school’s welcoming space named after her and Lawrence.”

The foyer functions as the “heart” of the Gustavson School of Business, acting as an area where students, faculty, and staff mingle on a daily – and hourly – basis to discuss world issues, project development and execution, and how to see things differently.
