The Gustavson School of Business presents Dr. Rebecca Grant with the 2015 IAB Community Engagement Award

We are very pleased to present Dr. Rebecca Grant with the 2015 IAB Community Engagement Award. The award was established this year by our International Advisory Board and is being funded by 5 members of the IAB.

The purpose of the award is to encourage and recognize faculty members who actively engage with the local business community in ways that are critical for the long-term success of the Gustavson School of Business.

The Community Engagement Award is given each year to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional community engagement. Engagement activities include building strong relationships between the Gustavson School and the business community.

Dr. Rebecca Grant exemplifies strong community engagement, and as such is being recognized for:   

  • her various roles in the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce (President 2000-2006, Governor ongoing), building strong relationships between the Gustavson School and the business community;
  • organizing the RBC case competition, she actively engages the business community in the educational mission of the School;
  • raising the profile of the School through media interviews with Douglas Magazine, A Channel, Times Colonist, CBC and the Globe and Mail; and
  • serving on the United Way of Greater Victoria Campaign Cabinet (2005-2014) she contributes to the welfare of the larger community; and
  • serving on the Advisory Committee of Ballet Victoria, is a judge for the Douglas Magazine “10 to watch” awards, and has served on the TELUS Community Board, the Tourism Victoria Board, the finance committee of the Victoria Foundation, and in various roles with Junior Achievement of BC.

Dr. Grant was presented with the IAB Community Engagement Award at the Dean’s Community Breakfast on May 4, 2015; she was presented with a certificate and $5,000.
