The Office of the University Secretary:

  • coordinates, facilitates and records the activities of the university's governing bodies - the Board of Governors, the Senate, and their standing and ad hoc committees
  • coordinates, facilitates and records the activities of the university's foundations, the Planning and Priorities Committee, the University Review Committee and executive search committees
  • as Registrar under the University Act , serves as the secretary for Convocation (Please note that the University Ceremonies and Events Office manages matters pertaining to the convocation ceremonies, and the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services is responsible for the production of all degrees, replacement degrees, diplomas and certificates)
  • oversees elections to the Board of Governors and the Senate, and ratifications of senior university appointments
  • manages matters related to privacy and access to information
  • receives reports on operational matters from the Equity & Human Rights Office
  • oversees the organization of the university's policy manual and coordinates and facilitates policy review and development
