Kwe’ │ Hello! My name is Shawna McNabb, I am Mik’maq on my mother’s side from the territory of the Qualipu First Nation in Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland) and of Irish ancestry on my dad’s side.

I am thrilled to be the new Associate Director in the Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement (IACE). I am a member of the IACE Management Team and work collaboratively with the Office of the Vice President Indigenous (OVPI) in the implementation of IACE and VPI mandates and objectives to support the success of Indigenous students attending the University of Victory. I also work campus-wide with units/departments/faculties to increase educational opportunities for Indigenous students. In my role, I collaborate with the Management Team to direct the strategic and operational aspects of IACE, whose main responsibility is supporting Indigenous students through the delivery of programs and services.

I moved to the territory of the lǝќʷǝŋǝn and WSÁNEĆ peoples as an undergraduate transfer student to the University of Victoria and have been a visitor to this territory ever since. I have so much gratitude for the relationships I have with community members and Elders and look forward to building new friendships along the way.
