Residence (RZ) Permit
Students living on campus can purchase a Resident General Parking permit for exclusive parking in close proximity to the residences. These areas are well signed and highly visible. This permit cost is the same as regular General permits. RZ permits are not assigned to specific stalls but parking in these areas is guaranteed. The normal 'General” permit-to-stall ratio is 2.4 permits to 1 stall. The RZ permit ratio is 1:1 parking so permits will not be oversold. For this reason, RZ permits must be confined to these areas or they would, in essence, be taking up two stalls on campus when parking demand is at its highest.
Between September 1st and April 30th, RZ permits are valid in the two 'Reserved Residence' areas in Lot 1 and Lot 5, see the UVic parking map for locations. The RZ permit is also valid in 'General Parking' at the Ian Stewart Complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and all day on the weekend, RZ permit holders may park anywhere on campus under the same conditions as regular General permits. From May 1st to August 31st, RZ permits are valid anywhere on Campus, subject to the same conditions as regular General permits.
