UVic Libraries Summer Reading Bingo Rules:

  1. Contest is sponsored by the University of Victoria as represented by its UVic Libraries - Access Services
  2. Contest is open to all individuals who are residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who meet all of the following requirements: are 16 years of age or older, have a valid UVic OneCard or Community Card, and have a library account in good standing.
  3. Contest opens on 5 June 2024 at 10 am and ends on 25 August 2024 at 6 pm.
  4. Entrants must submit a ballot to be entered into the contest. To receive a ballot, entrants must present their Summer Reading Bingo Card at the Ask Us Desk at McPherson Library. Entrants’ Bingo Cards will then be stamped in each square for which they attest they have read a book meeting the criteria therein. Entrants will receive one entry ballot for each completed vertical or horizontal line. The ballots will only be awarded at the time that the final square in the line is stamped.  Upon filing in every square on the Bingo Card, entrants will receive 3 bonus ballots.
  5. Entrants who require accommodations to the contest structure in order to participate are encouraged to email askus@uvic.ca or phone (250) 721-8230 to discuss their access needs and suitable accommodations.
  6. The random draw for the prize will take place on 28 August 2024 at 12 noon.
  7. The selected entrant will be contacted by phone using the contact information provided on the ballot. If the selected Entrant cannot be contacted within 5 days following the first attempt at contact, or if the selected entrant declines the prize, another random draw will occur and the prize will be awarded to another entrant.
  8. The selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, skill-testing mathematical question to be awarded the prize.
  9. Entrants agree that their name may be announced on UVic's website and other associated media sites if they are selected as the winner of the draw.
  10. Prize. The winning entrant will receive a gift certificate redeemable for a large pizza from a local restaurant, valued at approximately $35.
  11. Prize is non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded. Prize is not convertible to cash.
  12. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
  13. UVic will use personal information collected from entrants to administer the contest. UVic will not share personal information relating to entrants with any third parties, except as may be required by law. UVic will not attempt to contact any entrants for any other purpose than as set out in these terms and conditions unless the entrant has consented to receive relevant communications from UVic or as otherwise allowed under applicable laws.
  14. UVic reserves the right to amend these contest rules or to terminate the contest at any time without any liability to any entrant.
  15. UVic assumes no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including but not limited to lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, ineligible or incomplete entries.
