Gustavson School of Business recognized in top 15 MBA programs in the world by Corporate Knights

The MBA in Sustainable Innovation at UVic’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business is ranked second in Canada and first in Western Canada by the 2023 Corporate Knights Better World MBA Index. 

The 2023 ranking released today also places the school's MBA program 15th in the world for sustainable management education. Corporate Knights is a leading sustainability-focused media and research corporation that launches global sustainability rankings annually. 

"Gustavson has been leading the way with a sustainability-integrated program in BC and nationally, and we are excited to receive this global acknowledgement of our efforts,” says Cheryl Mitchell, academic director of MBA in Sustainable Innovation at Gustavson. “Our MBA was designed to turn great minds into great innovators and leaders who embrace responsibility for the future by integrating financial, environmental and human sustainability considerations in their decisions.”  

The annual Corporate Knights Better World MBA ranking evaluated 209 global MBA programs, including the top 100 in the 2023 Financial Times Global MBA ranking. This year marks the seventh consecutive year Gustavson has landed in the top 21 MBA programs on Corporate Knights’ global ranking. 

The Corporate Knights ranking evaluates schools based on the number of core courses integrating relevant sustainable development themes; faculty sustainability research citations; gender and racial diversity of faculty; and the per cent of recent MBA alumni working for impact organizations. 

“The MBA in Sustainable Innovation focuses on the mindset required as we reimagine organizations, leadership, and the innovation that will be needed as we face the current global context, sustainability considerations and the shift to regenerative business models,” Mitchell adds.
