How to apply
Ready to apply to UVic? We'll walk you through the steps of our application process.
1. Choose a program
We offer over a hundred undergraduate degrees, certificates and diplomas, so you're sure to find the right fit at UVic. View individual programs to see admission requirements and application deadlines.
2. Submit your application
Use the EducationPlannerBC service to submit your application and pay the application fee.
- Application fee if all transcripts come from institutions within Canada: $89.50
- Application fee if any transcripts come from institutions outside Canada: $184.00
After you submit your application, you'll receive a confirmation email from UVic within 3-5 business days. Add @uvic.ca to your email safe senders to be sure that it doesn't get caught in your spam filter.
3. Create your NetLink ID
Use your UVic student number (provided in your confirmation email) to create a UVic NetLink ID. This will enable you to access the UVic application portal and view your application checklist.
You can also use your NetLink ID to apply for student housing and scholarships.

4. View your application checklist
You'll receive an introductory email from your UVic admission assistant, who can answer your questions and help you through the application process.
- Most students receive the introductory email less than two weeks after the confirmation email.
- During high-volume periods, it may take longer for the introductory email to arrive.
Your introductory email will provide instructions for viewing your application status and checklist of tasks to complete.
5. Submit grades, transcripts and scores
Grades and transcripts
Submit your current or most recent grades as soon as possible.
To check if your grades/transcripts have been received, view your application checklist. It's updated whenever there's new activity.
BC curriculum (including international schools)
- Order your transcript through the StudentTranscripts Service (STS) as soon as you submit your application through EducationPlannerBC.
- Choose the default option that allows updates for one year.
International Baccalaureate
- Upload your predicted IB scores through the UVic application portal.
Other Canadian curriculums (including international schools)
- Learn how to self-report your interim grades.
Other international curriculums
- Upload in-progress transcripts through the UVic application portal.
- If you're currently registered in courses at another post-secondary institution, upload your interim transcript through the UVic application portal.
- If you're not registered at another post-secondary institution, arrange to have your previous post-secondary institutions send official transcripts with your final grades.
- If you've already graduated from high school, college or university, arrange to have your official transcript sent directly to UVic.
Language proficiency test scores
If you wrote an English language proficiency test, arrange for your score to be sent to UVic by the testing organization.
6. Accept your offer
We'll send your admission offer by email. Be sure to carefully read the information in the admission summary and important notes sections of your offer email.
Pay your acceptance deposit by the deadline specified in your offer email.
- The deposit will be credited toward your tuition fees.
- Once you've paid your deposit and received your confirmation email, you've officially accepted your offer.
If you've been admitted to a first-year program for September entry, you may be able to defer your admission for one year (to the following September).
Your admission is not confirmed until we receive official transcripts with your final grades and any other required documents. Learn how to submit your final grades.

- Confirmation of Enrolment for a student loan
- Verification of Enrolment for a registered education savings plan (RESP)
Making changes to your application
Contact your admission assistant if you want to make changes to a submitted application, including:
- Updating your personal information
- Adding or removing a proxy contact
- Changing your program
