Area of expertise

Accelerator physics

I am interested in accelerator physics in general and particularly in superconducting radiofrequency cavities. I hold a joint appointment with TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre. Most of the graduate projects I offer are based at TRIUMF and in collaboration with TRIUMF accelerator division members from the UVic adjunct faculty. Projects are within but not limited to these areas:

  • Superconducting Radiofrequency Cavities
    • Material studies using betaNMR, muon spin rotation and electron microscopy techniques
    • Performance optimization of cavities for heavy ion-accelerators
  • Target and Ion Sources
  • Intense Beams

Optimization of superconducting cavities is a research area closely related to material science. Therefore, I am also a member of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Related Technology (CAMTEC).
