Use the library

The Diana M. Priestly Law Library is open to the public and all university students regardless of faculty affiliation. However, interlibrary loans and undergraduate study carrels are reserved for UVic law students only. 

Summer session hours will commence May 1, 2013:

Monday – Friday

8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Saturday – Sunday

9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Research help hours:
Monday – Friday 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Law Library is closed on statutory holidays.

Computers:

  • Computer workstations located in the lobby and computer lab are accessible during regular hours.
  • Wireless access is available in all the rooms of the Law Library and throughout the Fraser building.
  • Do not store files on computer lab hard drives as storage is erased nightly

Printing and scanning

  • Computers in the Law Library submit print jobs to a shared network of laser printers on the main floor and on the second floor in Room 258.
  • A scanner is available in the library free of charge.

Rooms are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and are Wi-Fi enabled. No food is allowed in the group study rooms. But drinks in covered containers are allowed.

The Law Library reserves seven study carrels (Rooms 277-83) for the use of law and MADR students.

  • Carrels are available for three hours at a time and can be renewed.
  • Students are asked to present ID at the Circulation Desk to reserve a carrel.
  • Carrels are booked on a first-come, first-served basis or may be booked a week in advance.

Borrowing:

  • Equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • A valid UVic card is required to rent any equipment.
  • Equipment is available for two hours at a time and can be renewed once.
  • All contents must be returned in the same condition as when they were borrowed.
  • The Law Library cannot be held accountable for unforeseeable hardware failure.
