The UVic Russian club (part of the Slavic Studies Course Union) is an organization designed to introduce Russian culture to students studying Russian, or those that are interested in Russia. We welcome students at all levels of Russian, Russian speakers, and those interested in Russian culture to further explore the language and culture outside the classroom! We also advocate on behalf of the students within the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies. We invite all students and faculty to attend the events which we hold.

Беседа за чашкой чая - Russian conversation club
Russian Conversation club is a Russian club activity held every Wednesday in the Russian Reading room (CLE D252) from 2:30-3:30. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back. It’s also a great opportunity to speak and practice practical Russian with others learning the language. No preparation is necessary. Our conversation meetings are designed specifically for those with a beginner comfort-level with spoken Russian. There is absolutely no preparation necessary for participation in conversation meetings. Questions and possible answers will be prompted, with the goal of equipping you with the tools to more actively and confidently participate in conversation.
