Advising and programs
We offer a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Slavic Studies in the major, general or minor programs.
- If you plan to take a program with us you should consult the Undergraduate advisor Dr. Megan Swift (in the Fall 2013) concerning course selection.
- Students specializing in particular programs will have enough electives to concentrate (double major) in a second field. Course selection is important, particularly if you’re wishing to enter graduate school, teaching, library work, or government service.
- Students with advanced credit or competence in Russian will be placed at an appropriate level. Consult the undergraduate advisor.
- Students with prior knowledge of Russian may be granted transfer credit if that knowledge came from a recognized academic course
- No courses may be challenged for credit.
- If you plan to take either a general or major BA in Russian, you must have a satisfactory standing in courses at the 200 level.
- If you wish to select Russian as a teaching area in the Faculty of Education’s Secondary Curriculum, please refer to page 67 of the UVic calendar.
