The Science of Words / La Science du mot
is a bilingual symposium open to all on the love for words and what has been said about them. This event will be held at the University of Victoria October 15-19, 2015. It is organized by
the Department of French and the Faculty of Humanities with the support of the Consulate General of France in Vancouver.
This symposium honours the visits on campus of
Alain Rey(Editor-in-chief at Le Robert publishing house, author of many dictionaries, a longstanding figure on the radio, and a specialist of the history of the French language),
Dr. Sylvie Bazin(a linguist, French language historian, and contributor to the Trésor Informatisé de la Langue Française). It brings together writers, linguists, researchers,
translators, and teachers around the topic of words.
