Master of Arts in Community Development (MACD)
The School of Public Administration has launched a unique online master’s program in community development (MACD). Designed for working professionals, the program aims to prepare leaders for the challenges of today’s global issues in communities around the world.
The MACD focuses on issues of governance, leadership and management aimed at the social economy, co-operatives, international and non-profits. Read about how the MACD will prepare community leaders worldwide.
Nursing informatics, a double degree: Master of Nursing and Master of Science in Health Informatics
The School of Health Information Science, in collaboration with the School of Nursing, now offers a double degree program leading to a Master of Nursing and Master of Science in Health Informatics.
This program is designed for nurses interested in pursuing graduate studies at the intersection of both fields. You’ll develop competencies in both nursing and health informatics at a graduate level.
Graduates will be able to pursue leadership roles in nursing and/or health informatics in areas such as clinical informatics, electronic patient record implementation and tele-health.

Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution
The School of Public Administration offers an on-campus Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution for full-time students. The program will give you the knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of diverse, peaceful societies through work with public sector and civil society organizations. The program includes two co-operative education terms.
Graduate professional certificates
The School of Public Administration offers two specialized graduate professional certificates by distance. These certificates are intended to strengthen the leadership and management skills of working professionals.
The program requirements are drawn from the regular Master’s in Public Administration curriculum with assignments and course content tailored to meet the needs of specific professions.

The School of Public Health and Social Policy has launched the Graduate Diploma in Public Health and Master of Public Health programs. The Graduate Diploma and Master of Public Health will prepare you for research and practice roles to promote the health of populations. You'll complete the courses online in your own community and attend 3 on-campus experiences at the University of Victoria.
During the programs you will have the opportunity to: (1) creatively analyze public health issues and policies from diverse perspectives; (2) gain knowledge of public health principles including ethical, legal and social dilemmas impacting the health of the population; (3) complete a practicum to practice and demonstrate public health knowledge and skills within a professional practice setting; and (4) choose one of four areas to focus on during your program:
- Indigenous Peoples' Health
- Public Health Informatics
- Public Health Nursing
- Social Policy
A 450 hour practicum provides an opportunity for you to practice and demonstrate public health knowledge and skills within professional practice setting.
