Reregistration
Students in good standing who were registered in a degree program or on a one semester leave of absence in the most recent session will be automatically eligible for registration in the next session.
If you have withdrawn under any other circumstances, are transferring into another degree program or are continuing with non-degree studies, you will need to apply for re-registration through the online application system.
1Returning after an approved withdrawal
If you wish to return to your prior degree program or to a new degree program after an approved withdrawal, complete and submit an application through the online application system. You will be expected to upload a letter of explanation, addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, as part of your application. You will also be required to submit unofficial transcripts and other application documentation.
Once your application has been approved, you will be eligible to register for classes. Be sure to apply well in advance of your desired return date and communicate with the department to which you are applying.
For more information regarding leaves of absence and withdrawals, please review the UVic graduate academic calendar.
2Continuing with non-degree registration
If you are continuing at UVic as a non-degree student, you are not eligible to register online.
You are required to apply for every semester beyond initial attendance in order to be registered for classes. Please note that you must indicate, in a memo uploaded as part of your application, the specific names and numbers of the courses for which you wish to be registered.
Please note that a $26 fee will be charged for this application.
For more information regarding admission and registration as a graduate non-degree student, please see the UVic graduate academic calendar.
3Transferring to a different degree program
If you wish to transfer to a new program without completing your current degree program, you must submit an application through the online application system. You are required to inform your current supervisor of your intentions. You can speed up the application process by uploading a memo of support from your current and proposed supervisors as part of your online application.
Once your application has been approved, you will be eligible to register for classes in your new program. Be sure to apply well in advance of your desired start date and communicate with the department to which you are applying.
For more information on transferring from a master's to a doctoral degree program, please see the UVic graduate academic calendar.
4Re-instatement after a violation of policy
In order to return to your program after a violation of Faculty of Graduate Studies policy (withdrawal without permission), you are required to apply for re-instatement through the online application system. You will be required to upload a letter of appeal, addressed to the Dean of Graduate Studies, as part of your application. You will also be required to submit unofficial transcripts and other application documentation.
Once your application has been approved, you will be eligible to register for classes. Be sure to apply well in advance of your desired return date and communicate with the department to which you are applying.
Please note that a non-refundable $250 re-instatement fee will be assessed as part of this application.
For more information regarding leaves of absence and withdrawals, please review the UVic graduate academic calendar.
