ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Field and grid operations fall under the transmission and distribution division of electrical utilities and are further divided into real time operations, construction services, distribution work scheduling, smart technology, restoration and regional operations. This report considers the real time operations department and the use of distribution management system software for operational purposes. State estimator design and its overall function and features are discussed along with the effect of new meter placement on the Distribution Management System (DMS).
Smart meter data is added in the DMS network to study the impact on state estimation and the state estimation quality index. Simulation was carried out on a test bench of 20 meters. The results obtained show that the quality index is improved with the meter data and the difference between the expected (power system study) and estimated (historical analysis) values is also better.
