ABSTRACT

As Computer Science students, we thought the combination of sports and website development was about as fun as coursework could get. And it was! But it was also a lot more work than we anticipated. The technical and design difficulties of a commercial-scale website come together in this project to build a website for sports enthusiasts. The goal was to develop a web-based application that replaces the traditional paper and notebook organization of amateur sports leagues, but the difficulties lie in the fact that one person could play many sports, and could be anything from a player to a parent to a coach. With such a large variety of roles that a person can play, abstracting them and their related information into a database-driven website that is simple to use and maintain, is not an easy task. We invite you to join us for some hands-on discovery of our major hurdles, and the creative ways we overcame them!
