ABSTRACT

Abstract:

3D graphics data are widely used in many applications and gaining increasing popularity. With complexity of 3D graphics data but limited network bandwidth and processing power, it is important to compress 3D mesh efficiently. In this presentation, I will introduce a method about 3D graphic data compression, proposed in the paper Geometry-guided Progressive Lossless 3D Mesh Coding with Octree Decomposition, 2005. At beginning, the general techniques for 3D mesh compression will be introduced, and then I will give the details of Octree data structure, geometry coding and connectivity coding methods proposed in this paper.
