ABSTRACT:
A broad perspective on the future applications of THz technology and its importance in our daily life is first presented for public audience. Additionally, In this seminar we explain three main approaches that we have used to enhance the performance of terahertz photoconductive switches (THz PC switches). We first propose two novel materials (GaBiAs and carbon nanotubes) for the substrate. The optical excitation of the PC switch is presented as the second enhancement approach. The third approach is the enhancement of electrode structure. We have engineered the electrodes down to nanometer scale. This has significantly enhanced the performance of these devices.
