ABSTRACT

Abstract

The presentation will begin with the conventional motor drive solutions for large power (MW) and normal speed (about 1500-3000 r/min) applications. Against this backdrop, the relevance of the proposed series synchronous motor drive for such applications will be discussed. Next, the schematics of the proposed drive will be presented, followed by the procedure of its 'detailed' and 'simplified' modeling. The performance of such a drive for constant speed, constant torque and constant power applications will be analyzed subsequently. At the end, a position sensorless implementation of the drive will be discussed.
