Multiuser detection has been proposed as an additional feature of 3G wireless communication systems to enhance system performance and capacity. This seminar will provide an overview of this area. First, a brief introduction to wireless communications, DS-CDMA, and basic principles of multiuser detection will be given. Then various multiuser detection schemes will be discussed, including optimal, linear, non-linear, adaptive and blind multiuser detection. Issues of multiuser detection in practical systems will also be presented.
