ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT:

This talk will present a brief overview of some of the projects undertaken by the Group for Advanced Information Technology (GAIT) at the BCIT Technology Centre, including the CA*net 3 IRR Project and Internet Engineering Lab (IEL). This will be followed by a preliminary look at some of the issues being considered for the next generation Canadian research network.

Biography

Bill Rutherford has been involved with, and accumulated experience in various aspects of research, networks, and software development for 30 years. He has held previous positions at International Business Machines and Digital Equipment Corporation. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, M.A.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and B.Sc. in Physics and Astronomy also from the University of British Columbia. He is currently a Research Faculty member within the Group for Advanced Information Technology (GAIT) at the BCIT Technology Centre.
