ABSTRACT

Abstract:

A variety of numerical techniques exist for solving Maxwell's equations in complex problem spaces. The Method of Moments (MoM) is an integral technique well suited for a large class of antenna type problems. The hybridization of the MoM with asymptotic and differential techniques leads to a powerful engineering tool. The basic theory behind the MoM and Hybrid techniques will be discussed. This will be followed by examples of practical applications of these numerical methods.

Frans Meyer received his Ph.D. from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1994, working on Finite Elements in Numerical Electromagnetics. He started an engineering consulting company (EM Software and Systems) in 1995. At present the focus of the company is the development and distribution of an EM software program (FEKO) for the international market. For the last two years Dr. Meyer has also been involved in research work on numerical techniques for SAR assessment in humans exposed to RF radiation from mobile phones and base-stations.
