ABSTRACT

Single erbium-doped nanocrystals are optically trapped and stimulated using plasmon-enhanced double nanoholes. (DNH) apertures to determine their optical characteristics. Additionally, a photochemical A DNH approach was investigated for permanently anchoring nanocrystals inside a DNH aperture while they were optically trapped. The combination of emissions, the photochemical isolation and enhancement of erbium-doped nanocrystals with the approach has the potential to result in a method for permanently anchoring nanocrystals with single active emitters. This device could be used for quantum control at cryogenic temperatures, generating single photons on demand and coupling them to an optical fibre for quantum communication.
